Hi to my beloved readers, today I will inform you about a new assignment given to us. The assignment is about flipped classroom. Let me explain it to you briefly. The flipped classroom is a teaching approach where students learn new content at home through videos or readings, and class time is used for practice and interactive activities.  In language classes, this method increases speaking opportunities and allows students to use the language actively instead of just listening to explanations. It also supports learner autonomy because students can study at their own pace. However, it depends heavily on students completing the homework and having access to technology. Overall, it can be very effective if students are responsible and the teacher provides clear, engaging materials.

For this assignment we are asked to create a flipped classroom environment. We worked in group of 4 people: me, Muhammet, İrem, and Naz. Firstly, we choose the parties unit from 5th grade English book and we created a story including words from the unit that we choose. Then, my friends voiced the characters in the story and I was the narrator of the story. Later, we created pictures with Gemini to support our story. We made this video for students to watch it in their home before class. For students we also prepare worksheets for students to study in class. I will definitely use flipped classroom method in my future teaching assuming that all of my students having access to technology.

We used these tools to bring this project to life:

  • Google Gemini: Used for script analysis and generating detailed image prompts.

  • Google Nano Banana Pro: The AI image generator that is integrated to Gemini but it works so well and consistent it is worth mentioning. We used it to create our visual scenes based on the prompts.

  • Kdenlive: A free, open-source video editor where we combined our visuals and audio.

  • Canva: Used to design the worksheet. We made sure to use the exact same images from the video in the worksheet questions to trigger the students' visual memory and reinforce learning.
