Hey there! It's me again. Today, I'll share a task journey with you. We were required to consist of two or three people. Our task was to create a short fictional story and turn it into a 2-minute animation. In other words, digital storytelling! At first, the idea of combining storytelling, visuals, and audio felt a little overwhelming. I hadn't done any animation or something similar to that before.
We decided to take a well-known story—The Tortoise and the Hare—and change its setting. That’s how our fictional story occurred. Instead of racing through a forest, our characters are racing in space, from Mars to the Moon. The Hare has a high-tech rocket and is full of confidence like in the original story. The Tortoise, on the other hand, has an old but reliable ship and stays calm and focused throughout the race. Of course, in the end, “slow and steady wins the race”—even in space. We thought this twist would make the timeless fable more engaging and fun for the audience. I was responsible for creating the animation, adding sounds, and editing them. I was also the narrator of the story. For creating the animation I used StoryBoardThat. It was really helpful for visualizing the story, and it let us customize the characters and settings. Sometimes it was hard to find the exact poses or expressions we wanted, and the image quality wasn’t perfect after downloading. But we fixed that by using a free AI upscale, which improved the resolution. After that, I used CapCut to edit everything together and add background music. The editing process was easy when compared to the part of the animation, but syncing the animation with the music and timing the transitions was a bit challenging at times.
One of the best parts was seeing the final product of our work. It was amazing to see our ideas evolve into an animation. This project taught us the importance of teamwork, creativity, and the technical aspects of digital storytelling. In the end, we were really happy with how our little space fable turned out, and it was a great experience that we’ll never forget!
